Professional responsibility

Support when trust has been breached.

A confidential first point of contact for community members facing suspected immigration fraud, exploitation or serious failures by a previous representative.

Where appropriate, Bachar helps people understand what may have happened, organise their records and identify the right complaint, reporting or professional support pathway.

Finding the right next step

You should not have to navigate a serious problem alone.

People are sometimes unsure whether the conduct they experienced should be raised with the Immigration Advisers Authority, New Zealand Police, a lawyer, another regulator or Immigration New Zealand.

We can listen, help bring structure to the information and explain whether we may be able to assist or whether another person or organisation is better placed.

Examples of support

Quiet, practical help.

The examples below are anonymised and do not imply that the same assistance or outcome will be available in another matter.

Personal support

Attended court as a support person for a client facing a difficult situation.

Suspected fraud

Helped community members organise information about a person allegedly posing as an immigration adviser, and access Immigration Advisers Authority and Police reporting channels.

Professional accountability

Helped a client organise complaints and navigate a mediation process following serious concerns about previous professional services.

Case-by-case assistance

If you do not know where to turn, you are welcome to make confidential contact.

We will tell you honestly whether we can assist and what terms may apply, or whether another professional, regulator or authority is better placed. Making contact does not create an adviser-client relationship, and assistance cannot be guaranteed.
